Etymology: < neo- comb. form + -plasm comb. form, after German Neoplasma (see neoplasma n.) or French néoplasme (1837 or earlier).
Medicine.
A new and abnormal growth of tissue in the body, spec. one resulting from uncontrolled proliferation of cells; a benign or malignant tumour.
