Origin: Of multiple origins. Partly a borrowing from Latin. Partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Latin abiudication- , abiudicatio ; abjudicate v., -ion suffix1.
Etymology: Partly < post-classical Latin abiudication-, abiudicatio deprivation by judicial decision (from 13th cent. in British sources; < classical Latin abiūdicāt- , past participial stem of abiūdicāre abjudicate v. + -iō -ion suffix1), and partly < abjudicate v. + -ion suffix1 (compare -ation suffix). N.E.D. (1884) gives the pronunciation as (æ̆bdʒiū:dikēi·ʃən) /æbˌdʒ(j)uːdɪˈkeɪʃən/.
