单词 nenets
释义

Nenetsn.adj.

Brit. /ˈnɛnɛts/, U.S. /ˈnɛnɛts/
Inflections: Plural unchanged, Nenetsy Brit. /ˈnɛnɛtsi/, U.S. /ˈnɛnɛtsi/, Nentse, Nentsi, Nentsy Brit. /ˈnɛntsi/, U.S. /ˈnɛntsi/, Nientsi, Nientsy, Nyentsi Brit. /ˈnjɛntsi/, U.S. /ˈnjɛntsi/;
Forms: 1900s– Nenec, 1900s– Nenets.
Origin: A borrowing from Russian. Etymon: Russian nenec.
Etymology: < Russian nenec (plural nency ) < Nenets ńeneć' (plural ńenća' ), self-designation, lit. ‘man, human being’. Compare Nganasan n. and adj.The Nenets etymon may also be transcribed nyenecy' or nienet'e (plural nyencya' , nienet'a ). The form Nyänyäz in quot. 1886 at sense A. 1 is perhaps influenced by German orthography. In the Russian plural form nency (reflected in all the English plurals except the unchanged collective form), there is evidence of morphological reinterpretation of the word as a native Russian form with -ec , suffix forming personal nouns: compare starets n.
