Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin Nemertina.
Etymology: < scientific Latin Nemertina, family name (1846 or earlier) < Nemertes , genus name (Cuvier Règne animal (1817) IV. 37; < ancient Greek Νημερτής , the name of a sea-nymph, use as name of νημερτής infallible < νη- not (see ne adv.1) + ἁμαρτάνειν to miss the mark, of unknown origin) + -ina -ine suffix1.
