Etymology: < neuro- comb. form + -path comb. form. With sense 2 compare French névropathe (1872). Compare earlier neuropathy n. and slightly earlier psychopath n.
Medicine.
1. A physician who attributes the causation of disease to the activity of the nervous system. Cf. neuropathist n., neuropathologist n. Obsolete. rare.Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
