Origin: Either (i) a borrowing from French. Or (ii) formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: French négrophile ; Negro n., -phile comb. form.
Etymology: Either < French négrophile (1800 as noun, 1808 as adjective) < négro- ( < nègre (see neger n.) + -o- -o- connective) + -phile -phile comb. form, or directly < Negro n. + -phile comb. form.
