Etymology: < classical Latin nectareus of or tinged with nectar, sweet as nectar ( < ancient Greek νεκτάρεος sweet as nectar, fragrant < νέκταρ nectar n. + -εος , suffix forming adjectives; compare -eous suffix) + -ous suffix. Compare nectarous adj., nectarious adj.
Chiefly poetic in early use.
Of the nature, consisting, or suggestive of nectar; sweet.
