Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a German lexical item. Etymons: necro- comb. form, -trophy comb. form.
Etymology: < necro- comb. form + -trophy comb. form, after German Nekrotrophie (E. Münch 1929, in Zeitschr. f. Pflanzenkrankheiten u. Pflanzenschutz 39 281). Compare earlier necrotrophic adj.
Plant Pathology.
The state or condition of being necrotrophic.
