Etymology: < post-classical Latin nardiferus (1608 in the passage translated in quot. 1657; < classical Latin nardifer producing nard (of the river Ganges) < nardus nardus n. + -fer -fer comb. form) + -ous suffix. Compare Middle French nardifere producing nard (1572), Hellenistic Greek ναρδοϕόρος producing nard (of lakes).
Obsolete. rare.
