Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: Greek ναός , -metry comb. form.
Etymology: < ancient Greek ναός naos n. + -metry comb. form, with allusion to the Naometria (c1593–1604) of Simon Studion (b. 1543), German antiquary and mystic.
Obsolete.
Prophecy founded on the numerological analysis of the Biblical descriptions of the measurements of the Temple of Solomon, as set out in the Naometria of Simon Studion.Apparently an isolated use.Studion's Naometria, in which the measuring of the temple is viewed (with reference to Revelation 11) as a symbol of divine revelation, was unpublished but referred to in a published text of 1619.
