Origin: Formed within English, by compounding; modelled on a French lexical item. Etymons: mytho- comb. form, -mania comb. form.
Etymology: < mytho- comb. form + -mania comb. form, after French mythomanie (1905). Compare earlier mythomaniac n.
An abnormal or pathological tendency or compulsion to create myths, exaggerate, or tell lies. Also: an obsession with myths and mythology.
