Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: mytho- comb. form, -graph comb. form.
Etymology: < mytho- comb. form + -graph comb. form; in sense 1 after German Mythograph (1887 in the passage translated in quot. 1891 at sense 1); in sense 3 after post-classical Latin mythographus (1681 or earlier in work titles). With sense 1 compare French mythographe (1838), Hellenistic Greek μυθογράϕος , and earlier mythographer n.
