Etymology: < Murray n.2 + -ism suffix. O.E.D. Suppl. (1976) gives the pronunciation as (mɒ·riˌiz'm) /ˈmʌrɪɪz(ə)m/.
Obsolete. rare.
1. An expression or turn of phrase reminiscent of a Murray's guidebook (see Murray n.2).
