Murmin.adj.

Brit. /ˈmʊəmi/, U.S. /ˈmʊrmi/
Inflections: Plural Murmis, unchanged.
Origin: Of uncertain origin. Perhaps a borrowing from Tibetan. Etymon: Tibetan *mur-mi.
Etymology: Origin uncertain. Perhaps < an unattested Tibetan form *mur-mi, lit. ‘border-dwellers’ < mur at the frontier + mi man; however, the first syllable may be cognate with older Tibetan dMu (also sMu, rMu), ethnonym denoting an ancient tribe of the Tibetan plateau, held in low esteem.
