Etymology: < multi- comb. form + valued adj. With sense 1 compare earlier one-valued adj., single-valued adj. With sense 2 compare earlier two-valued adj., three-valued adj. at three adj. and n. Compounds 3b.
1. Mathematics. Of a function: having the property that a single argument may map to more than one value.
