Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymons: Latin mūgient-, mūgiēns.
Etymology: < classical Latin mūgient-, mūgiēns, present participle of mūgīre to bellow, probably ultimately < a base of imitative origin. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (miū·dʒiĕnt) /ˈmjuːdʒɪənt/.
Obsolete.
Lowing, bellowing.
