Etymology: < classical Latin mōtitāt-, past participial stem of mōtitāre to move (2nd cent. a.d.; < motāre (see motable adj.) + -itāre -itate suffix) + -ion suffix1. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (mōutitēi·ʃən) /məʊtɪˈteɪʃən/.
