释义 | † morlopn. Mining. Obsolete. A pebble of a pale, mottled variety of jasper found in New South Wales, Australia. ΚΠ 1886 U.S. Consular Rep. No. 70. 319 Amongst the jasper pebbles are some of pale mottled tints of yellow, pink, drab,..&c. These are termed morlops by the miners. 1895 I. K. Funk et al. Standard Dict. Eng. Lang. II. 1151/1 Morlop, a mottled jasper pebble found in New South Wales, and much sought for by miners, as it usually occurs with diamonds. 1927–9 H. Wheeler Waverley Children's Dict. V. 2836/2 Among the jasper pebbles found by the miners are some of pale mottled tints... These are termed morlops by the miners, who say they always find diamonds with them.
