Origin: A borrowing from Italian; modelled on a Spanish lexical item. Etymon: Italian moresco.
Etymology: < Italian moresco (see Morisco adj. and n.), although antedating the Italian word in several of the senses below; the word may partly show a remodelling of Spanish morisco after Italian moresco or Middle French, French moresque (see Morisco adj. and n.).In form Moresc probably conflated with French moresque Moresque adj.
Now rare.
