Etymology: Either < post-classical Latin morbositas (5th cent.; 13th cent. in British sources), or independently < classical Latin morbōsus + -ity suffix (compare -osity suffix). Compare morbous adj. and later morbose adj.
Obsolete.
Illness, diseased condition. Also: a morbid or unhealthy characteristic.
