Etymology: < post-classical Latin morsitat-, past participial stem of morsitare (12th cent. in a British source), variant (compare perhaps -itate suffix) of classical Latin morsicāre (see morsicant adj.) + -ion suffix1; compare -ation suffix. Compare classical Latin morsicātio (recorded in an 8th-cent. epitome).
Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Repeated biting; gnawing.
