Novy Ptomaïnes, Leucomaïnes, & Bacterial Proteids (ed. 2) xi. 263 Morrhuic acid, C9H13NO3, was obtained by Gautier and Mourgues (1888) from brown cod-liver oil. 1907 H. C. Wood et al. Dispensatory U.S.A. (ed. 19) i. 858/2 An acid, containing nitrogen has been found. This acid, morrhuic acid, C9H13NO3, is probably identical with De Jongh's gaduine. 1937 H. C. Wood et al. Dispensatory U.S.A. (ed. 22) i. 759/1 The mixture of the unsaturated fatty acids is sometimes known as morrhuic acid. 1949 Brit. Pharmaceut. Codex 26 Morrhuic acid consists of that fraction of the fatty acids of cod-liver oil which is liquid at 15°. 1989 Martindale's Extra Pharmacopeia (ed. 29) 1591/2 Morrhuic acid is used in the preparation of sodium morrhuate injection.
