Etymology: Either < post-classical Latin monticulosus (see monticulous adj.), or < classical Latin monticulus monticule n. + -ose suffix1. Compare slightly earlier monticulate adj. N.E.D. (1908) gives the pronunciation as (mǫnti·kiulōus) /mɒnˈtɪkjuːləʊs/.
Obsolete. rare.
Covered with minute bumps.
