The passage translated in quot. 1804 (see reference in etymology of moroxylic adj.) has scientific Latin Calcaria moroxylica moroxylate of lime. Compare French moroxilate (1818 or earlier). N.E.D. (1908) enters this under moroxylic and indicates the stress as moˈroxylate.
