单词 monocondylar
释义

monocondylaradj.

Brit. /ˌmɒnə(ʊ)ˈkɒndᵻlə/, U.S. /ˌmɑnoʊˈkɑndələr/
Origin: Probably of multiple origins. Probably partly a borrowing from Latin, combined with an English element. Probably partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: Latin Monocondyla , mono- comb. form, condyle n., -ar suffix1.
Etymology: Probably originally < scientific Latin Monocondyla (a1881; alteration of Monocondylia : see monocondylian adj.) + -ar suffix1. Subsequently re-formed < mono- comb. form + condyle n. + -ar suffix1. Compare monocondylian adj. and slightly later monocondylic adj.
Anatomy and Zoology.
Originally: having a single occipital condyle. Now: of, relating to, or involving a single condyle.
