Origin: A borrowing from Spanish. Etymon: Spanish monosabio.
Etymology: < Spanish monosabio, mono sabio (1900; 1893 in sense ‘hanger-on’) < mono monkey (see monkey n.) + sabio wise, trained (see sage adj.).
Bullfighting.
A picador's assistant in the ring. Cf. mono n.2
