Etymology: < classical Latin monolithus (see monolith adj.) + -al suffix1. Compare slightly earlier monolithic adj., and slightly later monolith adj. N.E.D. (1907) gives the pronunciation as (mǫ·nŏliþăl) /ˈmɒnəlɪθəl/.
Now rare.
