Origin: A borrowing from Greek, combined with an English element. Etymons: mono- comb. form, Greek βλέψις.
Etymology: < mono- comb. form + Hellenistic Greek βλέψις sight ( < ancient Greek βλέπειν to see (see ablepsy n.) + -σις -sis suffix). Compare slightly later monoblepsia n.
Medicine. Obsolete. rare. Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
Any state of vision in which binocular vision is imperfect but monocular vision is relatively unimpaired.
