Etymology: < French Monbazillac (1796 as Montbasiliac) < Monbazillac, the name of a village south of Bergerac in the department of Dordogne in south-west France. O.E.D. Suppl. (1976) gives the non-naturalized and naturalized pronunciations, respectively, as (moṅbaziyak, mǫnbæ·zilæk) /mɔ̃bazijak/ /mɒnˈbæzɪlæk/.

A sweet, white, dessert wine, similar to Sauternes.
