Etymology: < classical Latin modulant-, modulāns, present participle of modulārī (see modulate v.); compare -ant suffix1. Compare French modulant (1875 in music). N.E.D. (1907) gives only the pronunciation (mǫ·diŭlănt) /ˈmɒdjʊlənt/.
