Origin: From a proper name. Etymon: proper name Momoyama.
Etymology: < Momoyama, the name of a hill near Fushimi, south of Kyoto (Japanese Momoyama, lit. ‘Peach Mountain’), and of a castle built there by the daimyo Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1537–98) during this period, used attributively after Japanese Momoyama-jidai Momoyama age, period.
