An orange crystalline compound that is the chief bitter constituent of common wormwood, Artemisia absinthium.Absinthin is a polycyclic sesquiterpene lactone (it was formerly regarded as an alkaloid). Formula: C30H40O6.

1834 Miller's Dict. Gardening Absinthin, in vegetable physiology, a bitter resin, discovered in Wormwood, by Kunsmuller, but which has not as yet been very minutely examined.
