Origin: A borrowing from French. Etymon: French misereux.
Etymology: < Middle French misereux (beginning of the 15th cent.; French miséreux ) < misère (see misery n.) + -eux -ous suffix (although probably influenced by Anglo-Norman meseurus , Old French meseuros unfortunate (from 1160) < mes- (see mis- prefix2) + euros fortunate: see eurous adj.).
Obsolete.
