Etymology: < classical Latin minimus smallest (see minimum n. and adj.) + -i- connective + -ness suffix.The reference in the quot. 1615 is to Matthew 5:2 Et tu Bethlehem, terra Juda, nequaquam minima es in principibus Juda (Vulgate), ‘And thou Bethlehem in the land of Iuda, art not the least among the Princes of Iuda’ (King James Bible).
Obsolete.
The condition of being very small or insignificant.Apparently an isolated use.
