Etymology: < minera- (in mineral n.) + -graphy comb. form. Compare mineragraphic adj. and slightly earlier mineralography n. Compare post-classical Latin minerographia (1643 in a work title), German Minerographie (1813 in a work title), French minérographie (1840), all in the sense ‘description of minerals’.
