Origin: Probably from a proper name, combined with an English element. Etymons: proper name Milliken , -ium suffix.
Etymology: Probably < Mil- (in the name of the Deering Milliken Company Company (now Milliken and Company), U.S. textile manufacturers who developed the fabric: see quot. 1950) + -ium suffix (compare sense 1 s.v.).
A type of insulating fabric incorporating metallic fibres.A proprietary name in the United Kingdom.
