The point at which a celestial body (usually the sun, the moon, or a planet), or an identifiable point of the zodiac, crosses the celestial meridian; = meridian n. 4a. Also in plural in same sense.The sun is in mid-heaven at midday.As a technical term of astrology, mid-heaven is that point of the ecliptic (usually specified in terms of ecliptic longitude) at which it crosses the meridian at the moment of interest. This point marks the beginning of the tenth astrological house.
