Origin: A borrowing from Latin Etymons: Latin mittent-, mittēns, mittere.
Etymology: < classical Latin mittent-, mittēns, present participle of mittere to send (see mission n.). In mittent part , part mittent , probably after post-classical Latin pars mittens (1682 in the passage translated in quot. 1684, but probably earlier).
Medicine. Obsolete.
Designating a part of the body believed to be the source of harmful humours. Frequently used as postmodifier.
