Designating a syndrome characterized by lymphocytic infiltration and enlargement of the salivary and lacrimal glands, or of one or more salivary glands.Attempts have been made to differentiate between Mikulicz's disease, in which salivary and lacrimal glands are involved symmetrically and no other disease is present, and Mikulicz's syndrome, in which there is chiefly salivary gland involvement and which is associated with other (chiefly lymphoproliferative or chronic granulomatous) diseases, but this nomenclature has not been applied consistently.
