Etymology: < metoec- (in metoecious adj.) + -ism suffix, after German Metoecie (1884 in the passage translated in quot. 1887). N.E.D. (1906) gives the pronunciation as (mĭtī·siz'm) /mɪˈtiːsɪz(ə)m/.
Mycology. Obsolete. rare.
