Etymology: < post-classical Latin mensuration-, mensuratio act of measuring (Vetus Latina) < mensurat- , past participial stem of mensurare (see measure v.) + -io -ion suffix1. Compare Old Occitan mensuratio, mensuracio (14th cent.), Middle French mensuration (1520; French mensuration (1803) is probably a reborrowing).
