Origin: Formed within English, by compounding. Etymons: meso- comb. form, cyst n.
Etymology: < meso- comb. form + cyst n.J. S. Billings (see quot. 1890 at sense 1) records also a French form mésocyste.
1. Anatomy. The mesentery attaching the gall bladder to the liver (present only when the gall bladder is fully invested by peritoneum). Obsolete. rare.Apparently only attested in dictionaries or glossaries.
