Origin: A borrowing from Latin. Etymon: Latin menorrhoea.
Etymology: < post-classical Latin menorrhoea (1801 or earlier) < meno- meno- comb. form + -rrhoea -rrhoea comb. form, probably after amenorrhoea amenorrhoea n. Compare French ménorrhée (1836).
Medicine.
Menstrual bleeding, especially when abnormally prolonged (menorrhagia) or frequent (metrorrhagia).
