1973 A. Dundes Mother Wit 595 The ‘memorate’, a term proposed by the Swedish folklorist von Sydow, refers to narratives told by individuals about a purely personal experience of their own. One can in theory distinguish between first-person memorates..and derivative memorates.
1989 C. R. Wilson & W. Ferris Encycl. Southern Culture 156/2 Black southern legends include memorates, or personal experience narratives.
