Etymology: < French bandouillere (Cotgrave 1611), modern bandoulière ; from Italian bandoliera , or Spanish bandolera , < bandola , diminutive of banda band n.1 With the forms in -ero , compare -ado suffix.
1. A broad belt, worn over the shoulder and across the breast, by which a wallet might be suspended at the side. Obsolete.
