melissyl alcohol n. (originally) any of several mixtures of straight-chain primary alcohols obtained from beeswax and other waxes and containing between 30 and 34 carbon atoms; (now usually) spec. n-triacontanol, CH₃(CH₂)₂₈CH₂OH; also called myricyl alcohol.
