Etymology: < ancient Greek Μεγαρικός belonging to Megara, philosopher of the Megarian school < Μέγαρα (see Megarian n. and adj.) + -ικός -ic suffix. Compare classical Latin Megaricus , adjective and noun. Compare earlier Megarian n. and adj.
