单词 meader
释义

meadern.

Brit. /ˈmiːdə/, U.S. /ˈmidər/
Forms: Old English mæþere, Old English mæþre, 1800s– meader (English regional (Devon and Cornwall)), 1800s– meeder (English regional (Devon and Cornwall)).
Origin: Probably of multiple origins. Partly a word inherited from Germanic. Probably partly formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: mead n.2, -er suffix1.
Etymology: Cognate with Middle Dutch māder , mēder , Middle Low German mēder , Old High German mādāre (Middle High German māder , mæder , German regional Mähder ) all in sense ‘mower, reaper’ < the Germanic base of math n.1 + the Germanic base of -er suffix1. The later uses are probably a re-formation < mead n.2 + -er suffix1.
Now English regional (Devon and Cornwall).
A person who cuts grass; = mower n.1 1a.
