Compare macro- comb. form, micro- comb. form.Attested in loans < Greek (as megalopsychy n.) from the second half of the 17th cent., and loans < Latin (as megalography n.) from the early 18th cent. English formations are found from the last quarter of the 18th cent. Compare French mégalo- (formations in which are found from the early 19th cent.).
