Origin: Either (i) a variant or alteration of another lexical item. Or (ii) formed within English, by derivation. Etymons: amazed adj.; maze v., -ed suffix1.
Etymology: Either aphetic < amazed adj. or < maze v. + -ed suffix1 (although the verb is only attested slightly later). See also earlier mazedly adv. Compare bemazed adj.
Now chiefly literary and regional (British, Irish English, and U.S.).
